Read first, simple but important

     (no tool needed)

  1. Take the V2 card out of your computer.  Practice positioning  the the Stealth V2 Cooler (as received) on the 3Dfx chipsets.
  2. Pizz_V2expl.jpg (55489 bytes)

  3. Clean the plastic chip surfaces with common degrease solvent (rubbing alcohol, 70% isopropyl alcohol from durgstore or supermarket). Let it dry and keep the lint off the chip surface.  any debris left on the chip is detrimental to the adhesive bond strength.
  4. Peel off the white protective covers (release liner) on the adhesive (clear). Then carefully place the cooler on top of the three 3Dfx chips.
  5. Apply firm pressure on plate (top of each chip, the "red" spots in the picture) for >10 seconds to activate the bond strength between the chips and the cooler.
  6. (avoid trapping air pocket in the adhesive)

  7. NOTE:

i) The special thermal conductive adhesive is not tacky to human skin, but creates strong bond to the chip.     (avoid touching the adhesive with your finger)

ii) Reworking (on/off the chip) on the adhesive is not recommended. Once the cooler is removed the bond strength may degrade.

iii) Do not press on the motor in the middle of the Lasagna cooler. Applied pressure on the lower portion of the metal heatsink and the thermal plate (on top of the Frame Buffer chip)

iV) Once a while, when you open your computer later, press the "red" spots to reset the adhesive.  We do not expect you to do this, but it is no harm to do so at all.
