Solutions for AGP Chipset |
An interesting article about overclocking PC133 or higner memory. That requires an effective cooling solution for the AGP chipset. Check out this review by BxBoards.com. The same application has also been discussed at Overclockers.com.
Got 5 deg. C Cooler on AGP Chipset as reviewed by Tweakermeister.com (Nov, 2000)
Bxboard.com has a new PC133 Guide (July, 2000), and recommends using TennMax BGA Cooler to keep the systme stable when overclock to >150 MHz.
However, Lasagna BGA Cooler Type A is the best active cooler for most of the advanced boards. However some motherboard do not have the holes available for retention push pins, then the Type 0 cooler should be chosen.

Cooling the AGP chipset (by Intel or VIA) is a necessity if you want to overclock the BUS! Simple heatsinks, such as "greenies", are not enough.
Note: If you have a new greenie heatsink as shown in the picture below
Use Lasagna BGA Cooler Type B

To use Type B cooler on ASUS A7V and CUSL2 boards, you need to
modify (elongate) one of the holes for the retention push pins. The hole
should be elongated about 2mm "inwards". The cooler is made of soft
aluminum alloy, so it can be easily worked on.
Note: we no longer offer passive heatsink for AGP chipset.
